( kupiec)

Born: 1969 Palmerston North

Sandra-Jane’s works in oil are strong, vibrant and textural, resonant of her love and appreciation of creativity and its genius that has ‘lived’ and ‘left’ before.

Her ‘style’ of emotive and often controversial painting initiated whilst residing in Greece in 1989, derived from the inescapable cultural and religious influence around her. Self taught, she interprets and imitates these passions vividly through her art, poetry and ‘borrowed’ scripture.
Enjoying the extremes of sentiment and influence from the likes of Von Stuck, Clairmont, Modigliani, Plath and a large and varied collection of ancient text, scripture, and song.
Her paintings are often considered more a rich tapestry as she weaves paint and prose into temptation. They are edgy and pure of heart, often with strong religious overtones in a rustic almost naïve, folk-like manner. Spending much time abroad, she has procured a wide base of local and international clients who collect and commission her work. She has a considerable sales reputation to date.paints2-custom
In 1991 she publicly began exhibiting in NZ and since then has a host of successful exhibitions to date,
Including ‘1997 ‘Venus Rising’, ‘2000 ‘This Fig Likes Fire’, 2002 ‘Heaven and Earth’ which coincided with the
release of her and husband, Jeremy’s poetry chap book “I was writing a poem, you were mixing a drink”.
In 2001 she opened the Bohemian Picnic Arts Studio to the public from her home property in Whangaroa Harbour, where she resides with her husband and three children. Currently she has ‘The Store Gallery’ located at ‘The Gourmet Grocer’ store in Kerikeri, which she owns and operates with her husband.
